An easy overnight French toast recipe, filled with festive cranberries perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 loaf brioche bread
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups full milk
  • 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Handful of chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup frozen cranberries
  • Icing sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Butter a baking dish approx. 9 x 11 inches, set aside.
  2. Cut bread in thick slices approx. 1 inch thick. Then cut each slice in half. Arrange slices of bread in your buttered dish, overlapping as you please.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Pour mixture over the bread, making sure to soak every slice from top to bottom.
  4. Sprinkle pecans and cranberries throughout the dish, placing some in-between the slices of bread too.
  5. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  6. In the morning pull out French toast (give the dish a little swirl to re-coat any extra egg mixture that didn’t absorb into the bread). Preheat the oven to 350ËšF.
  7. Bake for approx. 30 minutes or until the top is crisp and the middle has set.
  8. Place on a cooling rack for 5 minutes to cool. Dust with icing sugar and serve warm.
